Who we are

Plain Vanilla Investments is a hands-on private equity firm founded in 2003. We invest in Dutch companies that provide business-critical technology, with a focus on software, smart systems & devices, tech-enabled services and digital platforms. We partner with ambitious management teams in majority-owned situations and actively support companies in strategy, growth acceleration, operational improvement, reporting & analytics, team building and add-on acquisitions. This also means being closely involved in hands-on initiatives within portfolio companies, helping to initiate and execute improvement projects that drive operational and commercial progress.

The opportunity

  • Join a small, experienced and entrepreneurial investment team with direct exposure to deal execution and portfolio value creation
  • Work on Dutch technology-driven businesses and engage with founders, management teams, advisers and financing partners from an early stage
  • Take meaningful responsibility from day one, with a steep learning curve and clear room to grow toward Associate level

What will you do

  • Support sourcing and screening of new investment opportunities
  • Build and review  financial models, valuation analyses and investment materials
  • Coordinate and analyze  due diligence workstreams together with external advisors
  • Monitor portfolio company performance and help identify value creation initiatives
  • Take an active role in hands-on portfolio work, helping to initiate and support improvement initiatives across commercial, operational and strategic topics
  • Work closely with management teams on concrete projects aimed at improving performance and  accelerating growth
  • Contribute to  strategic projects, market mapping and buy-and-build analyses

What we are looking for

  • 1-3 years of experience in private equity, transaction services, strategy consulting, M&A, valuation or a similarly analytical environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with solid Excel / financial modelling capabilities and sharp commercial judgment
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset and the confidence to work independently while being a strong team player
  • A completed university degree in finance, economics, business, econometrics, engineering or another relevant analytical discipline
  • Living in Rotterdam or close to the Randstad
  • Fluent in Dutch and English, both verbally and in writing
