Plain Vanilla Investments announces the successful sale of Sound of Data to KPN

January 30, 2026

Plain Vanilla Investments is pleased to announce the successful sale of its portfolio company Sound of Data to KPN. This transaction marks an important milestone for Sound of Data and supports its continued growth within a strong strategic partner, while enabling KPN to further strengthen its position in business communication services.

The acquisition provides KPN with the opportunity to add high-margin voice traffic to its offering and to accelerate the growth of its CPaaS proposition (Communications Platform as a Service). By acquiring Sound of Data Holding B.V., KPN also brings in additional expertise, know-how and innovation capabilities, as well as global coverage for Dutch multinationals and attractive cross- and upsell opportunities across KPN’s existing customer base.

During our ownership period, Plain Vanilla Investments supported Sound of Data in scaling its operations, strengthening commercial execution, and further developing its product and service offering. We are proud of the progress the company has made and grateful for the strong collaboration with the management team and all employees. We look forward to seeing Sound of Data continue to grow as part of KPN.
